Capturing public views through social media

The Wales We Want

What Wales do you want?

The Wales We Want project was launched in February 2014 as a conversation on behalf of our future generations in Wales: it was seen as an opportunity to look beyond the short term pressures of everyday life to the Wales we want for our children and grandchildren.

Following the launch of the project lead by Cynnal Cymru we were asked to support and maintain the Drupal website that was produced to engage with the public online. Through a number of key discussions and reviewing the site’s statistics we discovered that the website was failing, which we followed by suggesting key improvements that could be made in order to aid the user experience of the site and in turn increase the public engagement with the Wales We Want project online.

Using our knowledge and experience of the Drupal CMS system we took the website back to basics; to its core purpose of gaining insight into ‘The Wales We Want’. This saw the development of key themes to filter public responses to the project. We also took the opportunity to use social media login, allowing users to sign-up quickly and get their point across in a minimal amount of steps.
